FESTivE: an information system method to improve product designers and environmental experts information exchanges

Effective collaboration between product designers and environmental experts is an important driver for the ecodesign practice in industry. This paper investigates the principal functions required for such an e ective collaboration and aims at facilitating them. Product designers should be able to integrate the environmental parameters into their activities, and to exchange information dynamically with the environmental expert whenever needed during the design process. Therefore, the IT system should be in itself dynamic and exible to the integration of new concepts (knowledge, software). Recent developments in Model Driven Engineering (MDE) are showing some interesting results to gain exibility and dynamism in the IT system. Combining software interoperability using model federation based on MDE with the speci city of ecodesign practice in industry this paper proposes the FESTivE method for Federate EcodeSign Tool modEls. Experimented in two different industrial contexts the practical feasibility of FESTivE has been validated with practitioners. Results on the e ects of using FESTivE in industry shows that product designers and environmental experts are more equipped to anticipate and to respond to each other's needs at each stage of the design process of product or service

Museo interactivo del paisaje cultural cafetero

Risaralda se ha caracterizado por tener como actividades económicas la agricultura, la ganadería, la industria, el comercio y en los últimos años, la metalúrgica y la producción de combustible, pero después de la declaratoria de la zona cafetera como patrimonio cultural de la humanidad que abarca algunas áreas de los municipios de Apia, Balboa, Belén de Umbría, Guática, la Celia, Marsella, Pereira, Quinchía, Santa Rosa de Cabal y Santuario, decidió aprovechar la oportunidad de involucrase en el sector turístico y ofrecer un lugar donde el turista pueda encontrar estadía, tranquilidad y disfrute. La idea de la implementación de un museo interactivo, que aportará al turismo cultural dentro de la ciudad de Pereira, debido a la necesidad de rescatar y exponer en un espacio todo aquello que lo caracteriza y que ha sido olvidado debido al paso de tiempo, como lo es por ejemplo: las historias de civismo, los arrieros en el departamento, las practicas del manejo y procedimiento del café, las fiestas, mitos y leyendas, principales escritores, artistas, libros y demás elementos que lo identifican, siendo expuesto de manera didáctica, lo que aspira llegar a todas aquellas personas que desean en su estadía conocer de manera detallada al departamento, recibiendo calidad en el servicio, información valiosa y una experiencia divertida. Incorporation of these new resources will enable businesses to improve their global performance. La création de valeur durable pour l’entreprise, une force pour le territoire

National audienceLes travaux présentés ici sont centrés sur l’entreprise et proposent une méthode d’intégration du territoire et de ses parties prenantes dans les processus internes de l’entreprise. L’intégration de ces ressources latentes à travers les réseaux de création de valeur doit permettre aux entreprises d’améliorer leur performance globale par l’innovation organisationnelle. La prise en compte de nouveaux actifs matériels et immatériels dans l’analyse stratégique peut également mener les entreprises à repenser leur modèle d’affaire. Toutes les activités de l’entreprise sont impactées par cette approche globale : ressources humaines, contrôle de gestion, opérations… La mobilisation de ressources territoriales couplée à une vision partenariale de la création de valeur doit permettre de créer de la valeur partagée entre l’entreprise, ses parties prenantes et son territoire. L’objectif de ces travaux étant d’accompagner les entreprises dans leur démarche de responsabilisation à moyen terme.Les entreprises visées par ces travaux sont, dans un premier temps, les PME/PMI productives, inscrites sur un seul territoire. A Framework for Environmental and Energy Analysis of the Automobile Painting Process

AbstractThe automobile industry is experiencing many challenges that affect its sustained growth. The increasing cost of energy used at production plants is often identified as one of the main challenges. Environmental regulations also pose pressure on industry. Within the automobile manufacturing stages, the painting process is the most energy intensive. In this work, a framework for a European collaborative project is presented. The utility of the framework is briefly presented to highlight improvement opportunities to lower energy consumption and environmental impact of a plastic part paint shop

Toward proactive eco-design based on engineer and eco-designer's software interface modeling

Specific software for each design expertise are created to embrace new demands and are supporting the design activity in such complexity that the interoperability between software is crucial. The approach presented in this paper proposes a specific organization of the design process composed of local and global activities. The article focuses on the importance of modeling the data input and output exchanged between activities. It points out the necessity to define rules of transformation that are needed to link models together. The system modeled allows an infinite number of interactions and notably the integration of environmental concerns. This paper illustrates the method by studying a part of the design process of a simple product in a DTE approach. This case study involves software of material choice, CAD, LCA and focuses on transformation rules needed to give interoperable models. The results of the case study finally bring designers to adopt a new design of the product, which reduces initial environmental impacts

Towards territorial product-service systems: A framework linking resources, networks and value creation

While many models for sustainable product-service systems (PSS) integrate the multi-actor perspective, few provide insights on how the territory in which actors implement the system influences its sustainability. This paper explores the implementation of a territorial PSS at a city or regional scale as a means to structuring value networks and enhancing its sustainability potential. The research combines a multidisciplinary literature review with two exploratory sustainable PSS cases in packaging and cloth baby diapers. The paper proposes a framework explaining how sustainable PSS providers develop territorial networks that consider a diversity of actors from civil, industrial, and public spheres to mobilize resources for value creation at organizational, network, and territorial levels. It identifies contextual factors, such as proximity, social embeddedness of relations, and the visions that influence the consolidation and sustainability of the territorial PSS networks. The empirical cases show the development of territorial networks enhances embed social relations among actors and enables the sustainable PSS concept to adapt to locally articulated sustainability principles and priorities. The paper discusses the implications of this approach for PSS for sustainability managers and designers. The study fills a gap by showing the importance of integrating a diversity of territorial actors as a pre-condition for PSS to contribute to the sustainability transitions and resilience of territories. Future research may validate the proposed framework and focus on identifying opportunities and barriers for the territorial PSS approach in different contexts such as industries and company sizes

Generating a place where it can be used as sites for storage, systematization and preservation. These institutions are an important part in the development of cities, The development of these institutions as a figure refers to the relationship between the shape of the building and the relationship with the city. A figure that exists in a determinated space and the interrelationship that generates with the other elements. Through the object called library it would be considered as a place capable develop more than a simple building, this object would be an important element in the city, a place that would be conformed through and become a public space.A través de los años las civilizaciones se han desarrollado mediante el conocimiento y la razón; el razosinio ha llevado a grandes civilizaciones a comprender el mundo. Es aquí donde los lugares que almacenan estos documentos, las bibliotecas, vienen a formar una pieza importante de la ciudad. La arquitectura ha formado parte del desarrollo buscando hacer de ellos espacios capaces de albergar actividades tanto de estudio como de interacción; así como la generación de un símbolo que refleja la cultura y el conocimiento de ciudades. El conocimiento y la razón han sido y serán factores determinantes para el desarrollo de los pueblos. Sin embargo, los descubrimientos de cada época se vuelven elementos generadores de nuevos conceptos sobre el funcionamiento y el concepto de las bibliotecas. ¿Qué es una biblioteca? Su concepto surge como respuesta hacia la importancia que el hombre otorga al conocimiento a través de sitios destinados al almacenamiento, sistematización y preservación del conocimiento universal. Estas instituciones forman una pieza importante en el desarrollo de las ciudades que, por su particularidad de ser pública pretende conformar un simbolismo que represente la cultura y el conocimiento. El desarrollo de estas instituciones como una figura se refiere a la relación entre la forma de la edificación y la relación con el medio. Siendo la figura aquel elemento que existe en un espacio destacándose en su interrelación con otros elementos, y su fondo como aquello que es parte del campo que contiene los elementos interrelacionados que sostienen a la figura. A través del objeto que será aquel que sea llamado biblioteca tendrá la particularidad de formar algo más que una pieza hermética, un espacio público
